Pleasant View plans donation to graduation party

PLEASANT VIEW — The city council has approved up to $500 in funding for the Weber High School alcohol- and drug-free senior party at Toad’s Fun Zone. The donation will depend on the amount left in the police department budget.

Police Chief Scott Jackson said the department has donated $500 before, but some funds from the state earmarked for alcohol and drug education and enforcement have been spent. He also said the city did not receive as much funding as in the past.

“Anything is a great help,” said Gary Duran, Weber High School senior class president. He said there will be a banner at the party representing all cities and businesses that have donated to the party.

The party, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. May 22, will be for Weber High seniors. To help ensure the party will be safe and drug- and alcohol-free, Duran said, students will not be allowed to leave, then return.
