LOGAN -- A Utah State University student has pleaded guilty to his role in providing alcohol to a minor who was hospitalized with alcohol poisoning after attending a fraternity party.
Logan's Herald Journal reports (http://bit.ly/GVGhqj ) 21-year-old Casey Hafla awaits sentencing May 14 after entering the plea Wednesday to a class B misdemeanor count of furnishing alcohol to a minor.
In January, former USU student Hayden Ahlbrandt pleaded guilty to a similar charge. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail, with all but two days suspended.
Prosecutors say Hafla obtained alcohol for Ahlbrandt, who was underage at the time. Ahlbrandt later gave some of that alcohol to the 17-year-old girl at the Sept. 25 party at the Pi Kappa Alpha frat house.
The fraternity was placed on suspension after the incident.
