An eyewitness said a Hummer coming out of Ogden Canyon on 12th Street ran a red light, hit a minivan, went airborne and struck a pickup truck and a car. The truck was then rear-ended by another car.
All four of those vehicles were turning north onto Harrison from 12th Street.
Two other cars, which were headed up Ogden Canyon, were damaged by flying debris from the accident. One of those cars was the only one that was driveable.
Two occupants of the minivan, one from the car in the turning lane and the driver of the Hummer were transported to hospitals.
No information was available on their condition.
Emergency medical personnel worked on the occupant of one of the cars while firefighters used the Jaws of Life to cut the roof off the car.
The Hummer carried a handicapped license plate.
