SNOWBASIN — Snowbasin will shut down its ski lifts a week earlier than usual this year after an uncharacteristically mild winter, the resort announced Tuesday.
The last day of the 2011-2012 ski season will be Sunday. Snowbasin has traditionally closed on April 15 every year, but briefly reopened last June after heavy late spring snowfall in the mountains.
Season-ending celebration events will include music by The Kapp Brothers on Saturday, as well as a barbecue on Earl’s Patio from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., weather permitting.
On Sunday, the resort will open the Old Day Lodge parking lot to people who want to tailgate on the last day of the season.
Powder Mountain plans to close on April 15. Wolf Mountain closed on March 17.
