CLEARFIELD — Police have arrested two people they say were involved in a March 17 shooting during a party at a Clearfield home.
Mark Anthony Pizana, 19, of Brigham City, was charged in 2nd District Court in Farmington with obstructing justice, a second-degree felony, and rioting, a third-degree felony.
Clearfield police arrested Pizana on Tuesday and booked him in the Davis County Jail, where he is being held in lieu of $15,000 bail.
On Wednesday, police arrested a 15-year-old boy from Clinton and booked him into the Farmington Bay Youth Center on one count of rioting.
“We don’t know who the shooter is,” said Assistant Police Chief Mike Stenquist.
The teenage boy is believed to be a member of the East Side Longos, and Pizana is said to be a member of the Nortenos gang in Ogden, according to a news release.
Stenquist said having two rival gangs at one party “was a very serious, dangerous situation. We’re lucky no one was seriously injured.”
The teenage boy had been shot in the leg, police said. Police interviewed the teen on March 21 and “advised him to seek medical treatment” for his gunshot wound. This brought the number of people injured at the party to five.
Pizana was identified by witnesses who said he had left the scene and was driving the others involved in the fight.
Police are still working to find other people involved in the shooting.
