Dance to the big-band beat tonight

OGDEN -- Come on out and shake a leg to the big-band beat of the Junction City Big Band on Saturday. The dance is at the Shepherd Union Ballroom on the Weber State University campus at 3848 Harrison Blvd.

For those who want to dance but don't know how, group lessons are available starting at 6:50 p.m. (no latecomers, please). The dance will proceed about 8 p.m.

Steve Ericksen continues the big band that was started by his late father, musician and educator Earl Ericksen, nearly three decades ago. The senior Ericksen founded the Junction City Big Band as a way to give community musicians a place to play the music of Glenn Miller, Count Basie and other swing artists.

Cost is $6 at the door before 7:45 p.m., which includes dance lessons. Dance-only pricing, available once the lessons are done, is $5. For further details, email sericksen8@gmail.com.
