1Real Salt Lake will welcome four teams this weekend for the first annual Real Cup tournament. The action starts Friday when Alta takes on Sky View at 3 p.m, followed by a matchup between Jordan and Juan Diego at 6 p.m.
On Saturday, the four teams will reconvene at RSL's home, with the consolation game at 1 p.m. preceding the championship at 4 p.m.
"Events like the Real Cup provide Real Salt Lake another opportunity to give young soccer players from across Utah the chance to play on the state's biggest stage, and we will look forward to doing so for years to come," said RSL president Bill Manning.
Tickets for each day of the Real Cup will cost $4 for students and $6 for adults, while a two-day "superpass" is also available.
Rio Tinto Stadium has hosted dozens of high school soccer games since opening its doors in October of 2008, including the UHSAA state championships for both girls (fall) and boys (spring) since the 2009-10 school year.
Alta is the defending 5-A champion and starts the week at 4-1-1. Juan Diego was the 3-A runner-up this past season and sits at 8-2-0. Jordan, located just three miles from Juan Diego. Jordan is 1-4-0, but has won three state titles.
Sky View is just jumping into Region 5 play, with games at Mountain Crest and Box Elder before the weekend tournament.
