St. Joseph soccer
Interests: Food: Crab TV show: Blue Mountain State Music group: Country Book: Hatchet Class/subject: Math Favorite athlete: Natalia Behnken Role model: "My dad, Mark." What I'd like to win a lifetime supply of: Goalie gloves Hobby: Hunting and fishing
Biggest sports thrill: "Winning the State Cup in 2008 and 2011."
Best advice I've ever received: "The sky is the limit."
Last week: After a 1-2 start to the 2012 season, St. Joseph has reeled off six wins in a row. On Wednesday, Koehler posted a shutout in a 4-0 win over Maeser Prep for the class 2-A Central division-leading Jayhawks. Koehler was goalkeeper a season ago as St. Joseph stormed into the state 2-A/1-A championship match against Waterford 2-1. The Jayhawks have already defeated Waterford, Rowland Hall and South Summit this season and have their sights set on another state appearance.
Koehler on his performance: "We are looking very great this year. I believe this is the year for us. (My goal) this season is to win a state 2-A championship."
Coach Derek Tate on Koehler: "He's one that you can totally trust to get a big save. It gives the team a lot of confidence to have him behind us. Mitch talks to the team the whole game. He's always in the right place at the right time and he has an amazing feel for where the ball is going to be shot. He is a talented keeper with great potential."
After high school: "Go to college and hopefully play soccer."
