CLEARFIELD -- Two crosswalks on State Street no longer exist, police said.
Clearfield Police Chief Greg Krusi said the crosswalks at 100 N. State St. and 442 S. State St. were taken out earlier this week. Pedestrians should cross State Street at the intersections.
The crosswalks were used by children attending Wasatch Elementary School. The crossing area for students will now be at Center Street and State Street. A crossing guard will be on hand to help the children in the morning and in the evenings.
Krusi said with the removal of the crosswalks in the middle of the blocks, traffic will flow better because there will be no reduced speeds.
Krusi said the city had to get approval from the state to remove the crosswalks because it is a state road. All parents at Wasatch have received letters about the change.
