OGDEN -- The Ogden Soroptimists are inviting the community to join their members in their efforts to stop human trafficking.
The organization will hold a kickoff luncheon for a three-year campaign to raise local awareness and support action to eliminate the unlawful and inhumane underground activity.
Tickets now are being sold and must be purchased by today for the luncheon that will take place at 11:30 a.m. April 21, at the Comfort Suites Hotel, 2250 S. 1200 West in Ogden. Cost is $20.
The guest speaker will be Salvation Army Lt. Col. Helen D. Starrett, of Denver, Colo. As a Salvation Army executive, Starrett has been researching and collecting data on human trafficking regionally, locally and on a national level for the past five years.
