A house is no place for a llama, city tells Harrisville woman

OGDEN — A Harrisville woman had been keeping a llama, goats, dogs and cats inside a home she owns in Ogden.

The city recently got complaints about the smell and the sound of the goats naying coming from a house at 1718 24th St., said Alene Evans, Ogden’s Animal Control supervisor. An animal control officer went out to the house and found a llama, a few goats, seven cats and two dogs inside, she said.

The homeowner used to live there but now lives in Harrisville. She had a fence problem at her new property and wanted to keep the animals inside her Ogden house until she fixed the fence, Evans said.

The animals seemed to be OK, as the woman had been regularly going to the home to take care of them, Evans said. The woman agreed to move the animals back to her Harrisville home by the weekend.

Llamas and goats are not allowed in Ogden, so the woman will be cited, Evans said.
