LaVerne B. McQuarrie, resident of Apple Tree Assisted Living center in Kaysville, celebrated her 90th birthday with family and friends at a party held at the center on April 14.
The second of six children, she was born April 13, 1922, in Cache Valley to Albert Dell and Mabel Anderson Redford. She is a graduate of North Cache High School and Weber State College with credentials in licensed practical nursing. The majority of her career was spent working for Dr. Grant F. Kearns.
On June 15, 1939, she married Glen H. Bennett of Idaho (deceased). Their children and spouses are Lynada Peterson, Glenda Jean and Kent Draper, Elaine and Jack Kerivan, Marvin Glen Bennett, and Jeffrey Clair Bennett. Their family was sealed together in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple on Dec. 15, 1964.
On May 15, 1969, she married Robert C. McQuarrie of Sunset (deceased). She then gained three more children: Robert L. and Barbara McQuarrie, Irene and John Conover, and Marilyn and John Kekacs. She has 21 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
A member of the LDS Church, she attends the Apple Tree Branch. She has worked in Scouting, Primary, Mutual Improvement Association, Relief Society presidency, and with Bob as dance directors. She enjoys her visiting teaching assignment.
She has enjoyed sewing, cooking, fishing, camping, visiting national parks, creating oil paintings with Bob, dancing, crocheting, reading, playing bingo and spending time with her family.
