McKee hired at Box Elder

Apr 17 2012 - 12:25am

Ogden High School is taking applications for a new boys basketball coach after coach Jace McKee resigned to accept a similar position at Box Elder High.

McKee was hired at Box Elder after longtime Bees coach Keith Mecham stepped down to take a position as assistant principal at the school.

The Ogden High position also includes a full-time PE position tied to the coaching spot.

Interested applicants need to fill out an application with the Ogden City School District. Additional information may be obtained from athletic director Phil Russell at 801-737-8722.

Casting call

A Utah production company is looking for teenage athletes and their parents to participate in a new reality television show being filmed in the area. The group is looking for people to share their stories with the world.

The company will stage a casting call on April 21 at 10 a.m. at American Leadership Academy in Spanish Fork.

Tennis invite

Eight teams dodged storms and ACT tests to wrap up the Ogden High Invitational boys tennis tournament last Saturday.

Logan topped Ogden for the top spot, followed by Sky View, Morgan, Mountain Crest, Box Elder, Bonneville and Uintah.

Ogden coach Bill Roberts said several teams -- most notably Bonneville -- were missing key players due to scheduled tests.

Because of the weather and the format, teams played a tiebreaker instead of a third set. In the final, Logan topped Ogden in a pair of tiebreakers that could have swung the Tigers' favor.

Many of the teams will compete in the Logan Invitational this weekend.
