No injuries in Tuesday house fire

WOODS CROSS -- An unfinished house caught fire Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters got a call about a house project at 1642 S. 2095 West in Woods Cross that was on fire about 2:30 p.m.

They arrived to find heavy smoke pouring out of the basement windows and the fire was making its way up to the main level, said South Davis Fire Metro Deputy Chief Jeff Bassett.

They extinguished the fire in about 40 minutes before it could spread.

Fire damage was limited to the basement, with smoke damage in the main level, too.

Investigators will have to look at whether the heat damaged the sheetrock foundation and it needs to be replaced before they have a damage estimate, Bassett said.

The rest of the house was primarily wood.

The cause of the fire is also still under investigation.

No one was injured.
