Funding goes for water projects

BOUNTIFUL -- City leaders have approved funding for three major water projects this season.

The city council recently voted unanimously to extend its existing contract with M.C. Green & Sons to address three water line projects in the city for an amount not to exceed $400,000 for the season. The projects include replacing pipe in the area of 600 East, also between 400 North and Center Street, according to Lloyd Cheney, assistant city engineer. If there is sufficient funding, work may also be initiated on a fourth project between 200 North from 600 East to the food pantry driveway, Cheney said.

City Engineer Paul Rowland said most of the increases in contract prices in the water agreement have to do with metal, brass and cast iron fittings in doing water line work.
