OGDEN — The Ogden City Fire Department promoted Eric Bauman and Matt Schwenk to deputy chief this week, filling vacancies left by retirement.

Bauman has 18 years of experience, most spent as a firefighter-paramedic. He also spent 12 years as a flight paramedic for Air-Med and has been a faculty instructor at Weber State University, teaching emergency care and rescue courses.

Schwenk has 28 years of experience, the last 12 of which was as the city’s fire marshal. He has also been a firefighter, driver-engineer, acting officer for Ogden and served as a lieutenant for two years with the South Ogden Fire Department.

“We welcome both Chief Bauman and Chief Schwenk in their new positions and wish to express our appreciation for their continued service to the community,” Deputy Chief Chad Tucker wrote in a news release.
