St. Joe stays undefeated in league play

OGDEN -- The Jayhawks put together another shutout Friday, but the St. Joseph boys soccer squad knows things get markedly tougher next week as they progress toward postseason play.

The Jayhawks whipped South Summit 5-0 to improve to 7-0-0 in 2-A league play, 9-2-0 overall.

David Donlevy scored a pair of goals while Adam Brodstein, Oswald Cruz and foreign exchange student Takuya Ishakawa added solo goals.

Keyanu Tate posted three assists and Ty Evans and Kenin Richards anchored the backfield, helping keeper

Mitch Kohler earn the shutout.

St. Joseph coach Derek Tate has his mind firmly set on three games next week, including road battles at Rowland Hall-St. Mark's and Wendover.

Region 11

* BEAR RIVER 6, GRANTSVILLE 1: At Grantsville, the Bears jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead and coasted to victory over Grantsville.

Tanner Porter had a pair of scores, and Camren Chadwick, Craig Barfuss, Ryan Munns and Tanner Christensen each added goals for Bear River, which stayed a game behind Ogden in the league chase.

Region 6

* CYPRUS 2, CLEARFIELD 1: At Magna, the Falcons gave up a pair of second-half goals.

Bruce Bitter scored for the Falcons.

Lane Hickle and Josh Jackson each scored for the Pirates.

Region 5

* LOGAN 3, SKY VIEW 0: At Smithfield, Logan earned the dominating road victory with a well-distributed scoring effort. Kayd Marquez, Ace Phillips, and Jameson Hartman each had a goal, with goalkeeper Sean Lyne snagging the shutout.
