'Triggerman' arrested in Clearfield party shooting

CLEARFIELD — Police arrested a 17-year-old boy who they say shot five people at a party in March.

The boy, who is believed to be affiliated with the Nortenos gang, was found in Ogden early Saturday morning, said Assistant Police Chief Mike Stenquist.

The teenager was booked in Farmington Bay Youth Center on five counts of aggravated assault, one count of rioting and one count of discharging a firearm in the direction of a person or building.

The Davis County Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case before filing formal charges in 2nd District Juvenile Court.

Stenquist said his agency would like to get the teenager certified as an adult and have the case moved to the adult court.

The shooting, which left five people injured, happened on March 17.

Police went to a home in the area of 150 N. 1200 West, Clearfield, after neighbors complained of a loud party and what sounded like fireworks or gunshots.

When they arrived, teenagers and adults could be seen leaving the area.

Police believe two rival gangs — the Nortenos and East Side Longos — ended up at the party and started a fight outside of the home.

Police arrested Dwayne Ace Brown, 25, of Ogden on Wednesday. He was booked in the Davis County Jail on five counts of five counts of aggravated assault, one count of discharging a firearm in the direction of a person or building and one count of riot. Brown is also believed to be affiliated with the Nortenos gang out of Ogden,

Police found a fifth shooting victim, a 15-year-old Clinton boy, who was later arrested and booked into Farmington Bay Youth Center for his involvement in the fight.

He is a member of the East Side Longos, police say.

Earlier this month, police also arrested Mark Anthony Pizana, 19, of Brigham City.

Police said Pizana, who is a member of the Nortenos gang, drove the shooting suspect and others away from the scene.
