With two key pieces of its lineup puzzle benched by suspension tonight, Real Salt Lake attempts to do what it never has done.
Looking to shake off a two-match skid, Real travels to Frisco, Texas, to take on western rival FC Dallas, and earn its first-ever win in the Lone Star state.
Tonight's clash kicks off at 6:30 p.m. from FC Dallas Stadium, where RSL is 0-8-1 in nine appearances.
That draw, however, came during the meeting in Texas last season as neither side could find the back of the net in a weather-delayed 0-0 finish.
RSL's other Major League Soccer trip into Texas last year ended in heart-breaking 3-2 loss during stoppage time at Houston.
Real will be without the services of striker Fabian Espindola and central defender Jamison Olave. Both were sent off during the Lions' 3-1 defeat Saturday at San Jose. RSL decided against challenging either red card under the new review system, opting against taking the risk of losing a challenge early.
Espindola and Olave will be eligible to return to the Real lineup for Saturday night's home clash with winless Toronto FC.
Dallas forward Blas Perez was suspended by the MLS Disciplinary Committee on Tuesday after determining that endangered the safety of his opponent, Vancouver's Jordan Harvey, when he elbowed Harvey in the head during a challenge for the ball. Perez, the Hoops leading goal scorer, will miss tonight's match.
