OGDEN -- The community is invited to the 42nd Annual Jurisdictional Women's Convention for the Utah Church of God in Christ.
The free event will run Tuesday through Friday at the Griffin Memorial Church, 2424 E Avenue, Ogden.
Tuesday's activity will be a 7 p.m. "Gospel Explosion" musical presentation from Ogden and Salt Lake City choirs representing various denominations of churches.
Worship services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.
Wednesday's service will include a guest speaker, Vanessa Miller, who is originally from Ogden and who now is a missionary in Reno, Nev.
Thursday's service will feature Bishop Bobby Allen, the jurisdictional prelate.
Friday's speaker will be Supervisor Darlene Stone from the Indiana First Jurisdiction, who has overseen the women's ministry there since 2006. Her ministry previously has focused on youth. She currently is chairwoman of the scholarship committee.
A 9 a.m. to noon Friday workshop will focus on "God's timeless wisdom for today's tough times," referencing Proverbs 8.
There will be two workshop sessions. They are "Surviving the double D's, death and divorce," and "Help! I'm sinking, the wisdom of strong sisterhood."
The workshop will be followed by an inspirational speaker and a complimentary lunch.
Following the convention, at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Corbin's Restaurant, 748 W. Heritage Park Blvd., will be lunch, hosted by Convention President and Jurisdictional Supervisor Carolyn Smith. The lunch is $30.
