Man arrested for trading tobacco for nude pictures

WEST POINT — Davis County Sheriff’s detectives are trying to determine whether there are more victims of a man who they said supplied alcohol and tobacco in exchange for nude pictures of teenagers.

Detectives arrested David Thor Oliver, 39, of West Point, on Friday following a report from Child Protective Services regarding abuse. He is being held in Davis County Jail on no bail.

Oliver appeared in 2nd District Court on Monday. Another hearing is set for May 14.

He is charged with nine counts of second-degree felony sexual exploitation of a minor; three counts of sexual battery, class A misdemeanors; and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, class B misdemeanors.

According to a court document, Oliver “requested and received at least nine images of three minor females.”

According to a news release, the sheriff’s detectives interviewed several juveniles and found they were sending nude photographs to Oliver “upon his request.” According to court documents, the incidents took place between June 1, 2011, and Nov. 11, 2011.

Detectives issued a search warrant of Oliver’s residence and “found images of sexual abuse of children,” according to the news release.

Oliver is also accused of touching the breasts of one girl and the breasts and buttocks of another girl, according to a court document.

Deputy Davis County Attorney Cristi Ortega said she is aware of three victims. She said the victims are not related to Oliver.

Officers are requesting anyone with information about other possible victims to call the Davis County Sheriff’s Office at 801-451-4150.
