Northridge High football player Dallas Clark recently earned the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame Scholar/Leader/Athlete honor for 2012.
The Utah Chapter honored 10 student-athletes statewide, choosing from a pool of 44 nominees.
Clark and fellow Northridge students Scooter Arnold, Karson Casteel and Austin Tate earned nominations. The award is given based on football achievement, academics and community services.
Clark, a senior lineman and the team leader in quarterback sacks is the third Knight to receive the award, joining Jace McCormick and Brock Johnson as honorees.
Roy High thrower headed Down Under
Roy High senior thrower Tiler Heiney has been invited to participate in the Down Under Sports Tournament to be held this summer in Australia.
Heiney, a standout in javelin and discus, will represent the Western Conference Track and Field Team.

Ironman athlete of year candidates set
The Utah Blaze announced six finalists for the 2012 Ironman Athlete of the Year Award.
All finalists are previous recipients of the weekly award.
The three male candidates are Chase Hansen of Lone Peak (football), Jordan Loveridge of West Jordan (basketball), and Nick Emery of Lone Peak (basketball).
On the female side, Lori Parkinson of Cyprus (basketball), Brittany Martin of Syracuse (basketball), and Kailie Quinn of Judge Memorial (basketball) have earned consideration.
On May 19, a male and female "Ironman Athlete of the Year" will be presented at EnergySolutions Arena as the Utah Blaze take on the Arizona Rattlers.

Breaststroke rule clarified by NFHSA
New language was added to the breaststroke event in high school swimming that will help officials judge the initiation of the arm stroke permitted by rule on the start or turn.
This clarification of the breaststroke event was one of five rules changes approved by the National Federation of State High School Associations rules committee at its March 25-27 meeting in Indianapolis.
