Draper connects open spaces with tunnel

DRAPER -- Salt Lake County officials opened a tunnel under Traverse Ridge Road that connects thousands of acres of open space around Draper's Corner Canyon.

County Mayor Peter Corroon and others cut the ribbon on the tunnel Monday.

The tunnel connects 1,000 acres of open land at Corner Canyon Regional Park to the newest piece of open space, Little Valley.

Salt Lake County bought Little Valley for $2.75 million with a voter-approved bond.

The county holds a conservation easement and Draper owns and manages the land.

Draper Mayor Darrell Smith says it's no secret his city has some of the best trails in Utah.
