SALT LAKE CITY -- Charges have been filed against a 34-year-old man accused of randomly stabbing two people in a Salt Lake City grocery store parking lot while reportedly calling them racist and asking why they killed his people.
Kiet Thanh Ly was charged Monday with two counts of attempted murder and four counts of aggravated assault in connection with the incident Thursday at a Smith's grocery store.
A checker says Ly purchased a knife and headed into the parking lot, where she heard screams.
Witnesses say Ly stabbed two men and yelled, "Why did you kill all my people?"
Police say a man with a gun subdued Ly until police arrived.
