Top collegiate cyclists make their move in Ogden

OGDEN -- Downtown Ogden was very much alive Saturday with the USA Cycling National Collegiate Road Race Championships. The top criterium racers in the nation battled for podium spots and a leg up on the overall titles.

More than 500 riders packed the 1.6-kilometer criterium track, with eight tight corners and plenty at stake.

In the Men's Division 1 chase, Colorado's Josh Yeaton outsprinted Shane Haga of Texas A&M and Colorado State's Zack Allison to the finish line. Utah Valley's Michael Booth was the top local finisher in 39th.

In Division 2, Mesa University's Patric Rostel won ahead of Sebastian Sherf of Mars Hill and Ryan Sullivan of Cumberland University.

Salt Lake Communith College's Cortlan Brown was 16th, with Weber State's Tyler Matson 46th overall.

In the Women's Division 1, Marian's Kaitlyn Antonneau and Coryn Rivera finished 1-2. Utah State's Joane Meiners finished 24th.

In Division 2, MIT's Laura Ralston led two teammates to the finish line. Weber State's Toby Nishikawa was 24th.

Today's finale is a 125K road race in Ogden Valley.
