Three groups earn financial awards

SelectHealth has named three Top of Utah winners for its annual Select 25 award.

“Each of the winners was chosen because they improve health in the community and/or serve special populations,” states a news release from SelectHealth.

Each will receive $2,500 to further their cause.

The local winners are Inspire Dance Studio’s Elevate Academy of Clearfield; Snowbasin Adaptive Sports Education Foundation’s Mono-Ski Project of Huntsville; and Ogden Prep Academy’s Seeds of Change School Garden of Ogden.

The garden project is designed to help kids explore the joys of gardening and involve parents in good nutrition.

Funds will help start a school garden and continue a Harvest of the Month program.

The ski project provides winter skiing activities for those with cognitive and physical disabilities.

That grant will purchase a mono-ski, which is a seat with a mounted ski, for those who are unable to stand because of spinal cord injuries.

The dance studio provides a dance group tailored for children with special needs.

Funds will cover safety mats, equipment and costumes for families experiencing financial hardships resulting from their child’s medical needs.
