RIVERDALE — Investigators are trying to identify the body of what appears to be a man in his 50s thatwas found Monday morning under the Riverdale overpass adjacent to Interstate 15.
Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Jimmy Higgs said Utah Department of Transportation workers found the body Monday morning about 9 a.m. as they were preparing to do repair work under the overpass.
Higgs said the body appears to be a man in his 50s who was likely a transient.
"He was badly decomposed, he’d obviously been dead for a while," Higgs said.
A backpack and camping gear with the body make investigators think the man was a transient, he said. Investigators are in the process of identifying the body and then will try to contact any next of kin.
