HEBER CITY -- Residents who knew the couple killed in a two-vehicle crash in Provo Canyon say they're devastated by the loss.
Highway Patrol officials say Kathleen Draper and passenger Val Draper, both 63-year-old Heber City residents, were killed in the accident around 2 p.m. Sunday on U.S. Highway 189 near Walsburg.
The Deseret News reports Kathleen Draper was a librarian at Wasatch High School, while her husband was a former city councilman and county commissioner.
Authorities say the Drapers' Nissan veered into oncoming lanes and collided with a Subaru.
The Drapers' two grandchildren, ages 12 and 2, were seriously hurt.
Troopers say all three people in the Subaru are injured, including a 3-year-old child, a 24-year-old man, and a 25-year-old pregnant Heber City woman who lost her unborn child.
