2 dead in West Valley City crash near high school

WEST VALLEY CITY -- Two people are dead and three others have major injuries after a head-on car crash near a high school in West Valley City.

Authorities say the crash happened about 12:15 p.m. Wednesday not far from Hunter High School.

West Valley City police spokesman Mike Powell says four people were in one car, while a single driver was in the second vehicle.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports two of the four people in one car died, while the other two were taken to the hospital in critical condition. The newspaper says the adult woman in the other car was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Police have not yet confirmed whether any of the people involved are students at the high school.
