CENTERVILLE -- Despite initial concerns of how large commercial events might impact the parks department, the city council opted to grant approval for a special event.
A business, Pirate and Princess Parties, asked to use Community Park on a Saturday in June for a carnival event to promote the business. It will include activities for children and a number of vendors selling food items.
Centerville code prohibits commercial activities in parks unless approved by the city council. Staff presented concerns because the city does not have an events staff, and instead, the parks department absorbs any additional work.
The city council recently approved the use of the park, subject to there being proper approvals for operating a business. The company will be charged $200 in accordance with the fee schedule.
