Man charged in SLC crash that killed 2 women

SALT LAKE CITY -- A 46-year-old man is facing multiple charges for driving a truck with faulty brakes while high on methamphetamines in an accident that killed two women.

Michael Douglas Sleeter is facing four misdemeanor charges, including driving with a measurable controlled substance in the body and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Authorities say Steele was driving in West Valley City in March when he hit Andrea Fuguel and Erika Warneke. Both women later died at an area hospital.

Authorities say a glass pipe was found in Steele's truck and a urine sample tested positive for methamphetamines. An inspection of the truck also showed that only one rear brake worked and neither of the front brakes worked.

Steele is in the Salt Lake County Jail. It is not clear if he has an attorney.
