Police investigate accident that killed West Valley high schoolers

WEST VALLEY CITY -- Two 16-year-old boys are dead and two of their classmates are seriously injured after a lunch hour crash near their high school in West Valley City.

Police say driver Jacob Armijo and passenger Avery Bock were killed when the Honda Civic they were in lost control and hit another vehicle just after noon Wednesday. Seventeen-year-old passenger Cassidy Porter was flown to a hospital with critical injuries, while 16-year-old Leticia Cordero had serious injuries.

All four were students at nearby Hunter High School.

Forty-year-old Monica Hood had serious injuries when the teens' car hit her Toyota Corolla.

West Valley City Police Sgt. Mike Powell says there are numerous witnesses, and investigators may look at surveillance video to determine how the crash happened.
