SALT LAKE CITY -- Some of southern Utah's national parks will offer programs for viewing an annular solar eclipse later this month.
Rangers at Arches and Canyonlands national parks and Natural Bridges National Monument will offer activities for the May 20 eclipse.
The full eclipse will be visible only at Natural Bridges, turning the sky dark as the moon crosses in front of the sun and leaving a ring of light around its circumference.
Ranger Gordon Gower, an astronomy expert, will give a lecture before the 7:30 p.m. eclipse. Special viewing glasses will be made available to visitors.
The last annular eclipse in the U.S. was in 1994.
