Suspect sought in hit-and-run of 6-year-old Ogden boy

OGDEN — Police are looking for a suspect who struck a 6-year-old boy with a truck Thursday and then fled the scene.

The accident happened in the 2100 block of Adams Avenue at around 5 p.m., said Ogden Police Lt. Scott Conley.

The boy, whose name was not released, was riding a bike south on Adams Avenue. The driver of the truck was traveling east on Warren Row.

Witnesses told police that the left front tire and quarter panel of the truck ran over the victim and his bike, Conley said.

The boy was transported by ambulance to McKay-Dee Hospital. Details about his injuries and medical condition were not available Friday morning.

The truck that struck the boy is a 1993 model or newer and is dark blue and silver, according to witnesses.

The driver of the vehicle is described as a white male, in his early 20s, who weighs about 180 pounds and has a moustache, said Conley. A male passenger in the truck, who is also in his early 20s, has red hair, he said.

The driver of the truck faces enhanced charges for injuring the boy and leaving the scene of the accident, said Conley.

"It’s unfortunate he wouldn’t stop at the scene of the accident and render aid," he said.

Anyone with information about the accident should contact police at 801-395-8221.
