OGDEN -- Eric Young has been promoted from lieutenant to assistant chief of the Ogden Police Department.
Young replaces former Assistant Chief Marcy Korgenski, who retired March 15. His annual salary increased from $64,973 to $80,000 with the promotion.
Young was out of town Friday and could not be reached for comment regarding his promotion.
He has worked for the Ogden Police Department for 19 years and over that time has been assigned to the Patrol Division, DARE program, school resource program, the Gang Task Force and Investigations Division.
He was promoted to sergeant in 2007 and supervised the police department's Community Policing Bureau.
During his time in community policing, Young was an integral part of the development and implementation of the Ogden City Good Landlord Program. He has presented at code enforcement conferences and Realtor associations regarding the Good Landlord Program.
Young was promoted to lieutenant in 2010 and managed the police department's Special Services Bureau.
He has received two Distinguished Unit Citations, a Medal of Merit, a resolution of appreciation from the Ogden City Council and the BLOC award presented by Business Leaders Organized Against Crime.
