OGDEN -- Police are looking for the driver of a pickup truck that struck a 6-year-old boy Thursday and then fled the scene.
The accident happened in the 2100 block of Adams Avenue about 5 p.m., said Police Lt. Scott Conley.
The boy, whose name was not released was riding a bike south on Adams Avenue and the truck was traveling east on Warren Row.
Witnesses told police that the left front tire and quarter panel of the truck ran over the victim and his bike, Conley said.
The boy was taken by ambulance to McKay-Dee Hospital. Details about his injuries and medical condition were not available Friday.
Witnesses described the truck as a 1993 model or newer, with a long bed, dark blue and silver in color.
The driver of the vehicle is described as a white male, in his early 20s, who weighs about 180 pounds and has a mustache, said Conley. A male passenger in the truck was described as in his early 20s, with red hair.
The driver of the truck faces enhanced charges for injuring the boy and leaving the scene of the accident, said Conley.
"It's unfortunate he wouldn't stop at the scene of the accident and render aid," he said.
Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact police at 801-395-8221.
