Tuesday brush fire burns half-acre

FARMINGTON — A brush fire Tuesday evening burned a half-acre near the Lagoon trail head.

Around 7 p.m., firefighters went out on a brush fire call and found two to three good-sized fires and 50 to 60 small spot fires burning across a 5-acre area, according to Farmington Fire Capt. Rich Love.

Over the course of two hours, at least 16 firefighters from Farmington, Kaysville and South Davis Metro Fire Department extinguished the fire that was spreading through the cotton on the ground.

At no point were any structures threatened.

Investigators have not yet determined a cause of the fire.
