FARMINGTON -- The 14th annual Davis County Great Salt Lake Bird Festival begins this morning with a number of bird-watching field trips.
The five-day festival runs through Monday, with activities, vendors and exhibits scheduled from noon to 7 p.m. Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, at the Davis County Legacy Events Center, 151 S. 1100 West, Farmington.
Family activities on Saturday include live bird shows from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., performed by Hogle Zoo and Tracy Aviary.
There is also a Great Salt Lake-themed activity and art project for youths or any Boy Scout troops wanting to attend.
The festival is expected to draw more than 4,000 visitors from outside the area, Davis County Community and Economic Development Director Kent Sulser said.
