KAYSVILLE -- The city council recently named 16-year-old Kate Simpson as the Kaysville Youth Citizen of the Year.
Simpson earned the award by dedicating many hours of service to the community over her three years on the city's youth council.
She participated in countless service projects, provided leadership within the youth council and recruited many of her peers to join in the service.
"She has been absolutely exceptional ... I have never seen a young person who has been more dedicated, more enthused, more energetic, more committed," said Councilman Mark Johnson, who mentors the youth council.
Simpson is also a talented pianist, gymnastics coach, honor student, peer mentor, and president of Davis High School's business and marketing club, Johnson said.
