Memorial Day service planned

OGDEN — Ogden’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1481 is teaming up with Leavitt’s Mortuary to provide services and ceremonies on Memorial Day Weekend.

Programs include a flag retirement ceremony and placing wreaths on the graves of former prisoners of war at 5:30 p.m. Friday, placing more than 1,200 American flags on veterans’ graves at Aultorest Cemetery at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, and memorial services and a fallen soldier ceremony at 10 a.m. May 28.

VFW members also will hold a memorial ceremony at sunrise on May 28 at the gravesite of Cpl. Fred J. Grant, namesake of the Ogden VFW Post.

The public is invited to all ceremonies and services. Drop off tattered or torn American Flags for proper retirement at the mortuary, 836 36th St., or at the VFW Post, 907 W. 12th St.
