IRVINE, Calif. -- The Ogden Outlaws found the back of the net for the first time in 2012, but couldn't complete a comeback as they dropped their second straight match in southern California on Sunday night in PCL soccer action.
Ogden fell 3-1 to the Orange County Blue Star on Sunday at Concordia University, after falling 2-0 to Ventura County in their season opener on Friday in Ventura, Calif.
The Outlaws trailed the Blue Star 2-0 at halftime, but Junior Garcia punched in the Outlaws' first goal of the season in the 46th minute to make it 2-1.
Ogden (0-2-0) had multiple opportunities to equalize in the second half, but rang two shots off the post and misfired on a couple of other quality chances.
Orange County converted a late penalty kick for the final margin.
"We need to put our chances away if we want to be successful," coach Mike Hickman said. "We saw some good things this weekend but all that matters are the wins. We don't get points for getting close."
On Friday, Ogden played Ventura County to a 0-0 scoreline through 69 minutes, when the Fusion's Victor Chavez scored off a corner kick, and then secured the win in stoppage time by converting a stoppage time penalty kick.
Ogden opens up its home season on Thursday evening at Bonneville High School when the Outlaws take on the Fresno Fuego at 6 p.m.
