Bountiful releases tentative budget

BOUNTIFUL - City leaders approved a $57.7 million tentative budget for the 2012-13 fiscal year, which follows a familiar pattern of holding the line on property taxes and fees.

As part of the tentative budget approval, council members also set June 12 as the public hearing date to review the spending plan, before final approval is expected. The city has until June 22 to have a final budget in place, per state law. The city’s fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30.

The new budget outline is a reduction of almost $22 million from what is in place for the 2011-2012 fiscal year. The $22 million difference is funding for a power plant renovation project currently underway for the Bountiful City Light & Power Company.
