Committee to look into e-billboards in Layton

LAYTON — Mayor Stephen Curtis said there is no need to wait to address the issue of electronic billboards in his community and said he will act quickly to form a committee of elected officials, local businesses and sign company representatives to address the matter.

The city council voted earlier this month to impose a six-month moratorium on electronic billboards in the community until new guidelines are worked out.

The committee approach has been recommended as the course of action.

“Even though we have six months, I’d like to get to it as soon as possible,” Curtis said.

Besides at least two council members, Curtis has said the committee may include representatives from three major sign companies in Utah. They also will pursue some representatives from the business community through the Davis County Chamber of Commerce.
