MIDVALE -- A 13-year-old from Midvale is set to compete in the National Geographic Bee in Washington D.C., for the third time he's made it to the final round.
Anthony Cheng and nine others will put their knowledge of cities, countries, and land features to the test Thursday morning in the final round moderated by "Jeopardy" host Alex Trebek. The contest will be taped and aired in the evening on the National Geographic Channel.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports Cheng placed fifth in the national competition last year, and sixth in 2010.
The Midvale Middle School student will get a $25,000 college scholarship and a trip to the Galapagos Islands if he wins.
The 24th annual geography bee drew the 10 finalists from the 50 states and several U.S. territories.
