SALT LAKE CITY -- David Whittekiend has been named the new forest supervisor for the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forests.
He replaces Brian Ferebee, who is now the deputy regional forester for the Forest Service's Rocky Mountain Region covering Wyoming, Colorado and South Dakota.
Whittekiend has recently been the forest supervisor for the Mark Twain National Forest in Missouri. His first permanent position with the Forest Service was as a wildlife biologist on the Teasdale Ranger District on the Dixie National Forest, in Utah.
From there he went to the Lewis and Clark National Forest in Montana where he worked on the Rocky Mountain Ranger District as the wildlife, timber and minerals staff officer. He served as district ranger on the Soda Springs Ranger District, Caribou-Targhee National Forest in Idaho.
Whittekiend will begin his new job on June 3.
