Does anyone know where you buy a couple of pairs of dog ear plugs?
The Wasatch Front will be alive this weekend with jet car engines on the ground and in the air.
Of course, the Hill Air Force Base Air Show will fill the Top of Utah skies.
Out at Miller Motorsports Park, the BigM Weekend features the FIM Superbike World Championship and AMA Pro Road Racing and plenty of fun under the sun.
But at Rocky Mountain Raceways, they've got Tow Mater.
Today's Jet Spring Car Nationals, the popular jet car competition, will include a grin-producing Tow Mater Jet Car, piloted by Salt Lake's Jaren Mott, who competes in the RMR top dragster class.
Tow Mater generates 6,000 pounds of thrust from a Westinghouse J-34 jet engine and will average 200 miles per hour down the quarter-mile. The vehicle was created by Fire 4 Hire out of Canada. The vehicle took seven months to build.
The Nationals will feature eight ground-pounding jet cars, and all the usual pro mods, dragsters, IHRA and motorcycle/snowmobile dragsters.
Gates open at noon. Feature cars run at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, Oreo and Penelope, the two Shih Tzus who run my house, will need ear plugs to get through the weekend.
