OGDEN -- The Ogden and Weber school districts have announced the times and locations of their free summer lunch programs.
Meals are offered free to those 18 and younger.
"We have reached lunch counts as high as 4,000 a day," said Suzette Braithwaite, OSD child nutrition supervisor. "The children look forward to it, and some don't have other places to go. Even the parents seem to enjoy it and bring picnics to the park locations. It's a social outing for them."
Nate Taggart, spokesman for Weber School District, said Weber serves an average of about 2,100 lunches a day during the summer program.
"It gives kids the opportunity to have a nutritious, balanced meal when they may otherwise go without," Taggart said.
Neither district will offer meals on the July 4 or July 24 holidays.
Ogden School District
Summer lunch will be served between 11:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, Monday through Aug. 9, at the following Ogden locations:
* Bonneville Elementary, 490 Gramercy Ave.
* Heritage Elementary, 373 S. 150 West.
* Lincoln Elementary, 1235 N. Canfield Drive.
* Madison Elementary, 2563 Monroe Blvd.
* Odyssey Elementary, 375 Goddard Street.
* Ben Lomond High, 1080 9th St.
* Jaycee Park, 25th Street and Fillmore Avenue.
* Liberty Park, 21st Street and Monroe Blvd.
* Lorin Farr Park, 17th Street and Gramercy Avenue.
* Marshall White Center, 222 28th St.
* Monroe Park, 30th Street and Monroe Boulevard.
* Mount Ogden Park, 32nd Street and Taylor Avenue;.
* West Ogden Park, 24th Street and E Avenue.
The dates and days of the week are different at three Ogden School District schools:
Free meals for children will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, June 18 through Aug. 9, at these locations:
* Dee Elementary, 550 22nd St.
* Ogden High, 2828 Harrison Blvd.
* Washington High, 455 28th St.

Weber School District
Weber will serve summer lunch between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, starting Monday through Aug. 3 at all locations except Municipal Elementary, which will end its program July 27 because of construction.
Lunch locations are:
* North Ogden, Green Acres, 640 E. 1900 North.
* South Ogden, MarLon Hills Elementary, 4400 Madison Ave., and Club Heights Elementary, 100 E. 4150 South.
* Washington Terrace, Roosevelt Elementary, 190 W. 5100 South, and Washington Terrace Elementary, 20 E. 4600 South.
* Riverdale, Riverdale Elementary, 1160 W. 4400 South.
* Roy, Lakeview Elementary, 2025 W. 5000 South; Municipal Elementary (with meals ending after July 27), 5775 S. 200 West; North Park Elementary, 4230 S. 2175 West; Roy Elementary, 2888 W. 5600 South; and Valley View Elementary, 2465 W. 4500 South.
