TRAX, vehicle crash delays Salt Lake City commute

SALT LAKE CITY -- Salt Lake City commuters should be ready for slight delays on TRAX trains after a crash involving a train and a car.

Utah Transit Authority officials say the man driving the car has been transported to the hospital with minor injuries after the crash a little before 7 a.m. Tuesday.

UTA spokesman Gerry Carpenter says it appears the man ran a red light and was struck by a southbound train near 800 South and 200 West. Carpenter says police will likely cite the driver for running the light.

The scene has been cleared, and Carpenter says delays are minimal.
