Farmington again named Tree City

FARMINGTON -This city has been recognized as a Tree City USA, by the Arbor Day Foundation, for the third consecutive year.

In order to qualify as a Tree City USA, a municipality is required to adopt a community tree ordinance, hold an annual Arbor Day celebration and have an active tree planting and removal program, among other criteria.

Scott Zeivler of the U.S. Forest Service presented city officials with the designation during a recent meeting.

Zeivler said there are approximately 2,000 communities recognized in the U.S. with the honor, including 80 in Utah.
