Davis dog adoption fee reduced to $50 until Aug. 31

FRUIT HEIGHTS — From now through Aug. 31, as part of its Dog Days of Summer event, the Davis County Animal Shelter is discounting its dog adoption fee to $50 — a $75 savings over the average adoption price for a dog.

The fee includes all shots, health check, behavior assessment, spay and neutering and microchip, said Clint Thacker, animal services director.

The shelter will team with Best Friends Animal Society/No More Homeless Pets of Utah for the event.

“Summer is the busiest time for our shelter,” Thacker said.

That means more animals, particularly dogs, come into the shelter, he said, creating a higher likelihood of having to euthanize healthy dogs to make room for them.

“Our goal is to adopt all of our healthy and adoptable animals to loving homes,” he said.

For cat lovers, June is Adopt a Shelter Cat month. All cat adoptions are $25.
